Dear members,

Our AGM was held in the Village Inn, Kildalkey on Friday 5th November 2021. There were 17 members present. Attendees were as follows:

Tom Carroll (TC), Martin Blake (MB), Peter Kelly (PK), Richie Delea (RD), John O'Connor (JOC), Stephen Skelly (SS), Anthony Quinn (AQ) Stephen Kelly (SK), Kieran McGurran (KM), Gerry McGuire (GM), Christy King (CK), James Monaghan (JM), Michael Collins (MC), Karl Stewart (KS), Brian Heverin (BH), Jody Corrigan (JC), and Bill Hayes (BH).

TC opened the meeting and welcomed all those present to the the 15th KGS AGM. He read the minutes of the 2019 AGM as there was no 2020 AGM due to COVID and the shortned season. The minutes were adopted having been proposed and seconded by MC and SS respectively. TC then gave his secretary's report outlining how the Society kept going and stayed together throughout the COVID 2020/21 seasons. A total of 212 members played during 2021 and we averaged 36 members per outing. TC Listed the outings in 2021 and the winners and congratulated them all. He also informed the meeting the there was a 1st for the Society in the guise of a one Cormac Foley who shot under par at the Captains Day in Mullingar. He thanked Kieran McGurran for an enjoyable Captains day in Mullingar and the staff who looked after us. Rathcore was in great condition for the Turkey Shoot.TC complimented AQ on his captaincy.

He then thanked the committee for their service through the year and all those who helped on outing days whether it be collecting fees, filling out score cards and checking in scores etc. Particular mention to PK and RD for their work. TC then thanked our sponsors for 2021 which included Progressive Building Services (Tom and Brian Carroll), Athboy Physiotherapy and the Village Inn (Paul and Emma Fagan). TC then listed the courses booked for 2022 and they are as follows:

Date Venue Tee Time
26th March 2022 Mt. Juliet 10:30
23rd April 2022 Seapoint 10:00
28th May 2022 Concra Wood 12:10
25th June 2022 Greenore 10:00
16th July 2022 Slieve Russell TBC
13th August 2022 The Heritage 12:10
September 2022 Captains - TBC 11:00

Next up was the treasurers report. PK informed the meeting that the Society's finances were healthy after €1,300 had been paid out for booking venues for 2022. A statement was available for anyone who wished to peruse it.

Next up invited to speak was our President BH. He was brief and said "All was good". He then presented CK with the President's Cup won at Druids Glen.

Captain AQ then addressed the meeting. He thanked the committee for the work done over last 2 Covid filled years. He said that the new handicap system introduced as a result of a motion passed at 2019 AGM seemed to be working well as could be seen by the spread of winners over 2020/21. He congratulated them. He said we had good turnouts for the events and thanked KM for organising the Captains Day. AQ then proposed the captain for 2022 as Jody Corrigan, a founding member of the Society and wished him the best of luck for his captaincy. His nomination was seconded by TC.

JC thanked AQ for the nomination and said he was looking forward to 2022. JC announced SS for the position of vice-captain. This was seconded by JOC.

Next up was the election of Officers and committee. There were no nominations and the Officers and committee were willing to serve for another year. This was put to the AGM and adopted and the committee will continue to serve for 2022. The vice-captain SS was automatically co-opted onto the committee.

We then had the draw for free membership among those present at the AGM. MB won that draw.

Next up were motions received. There were no motions received.

Under AOB AQ raised the possibility of having one of the outings played as per Stroke Play rather than under Stableford points. A brief discussion ensued but no decision was made. It was decided that the committee would discuss same at a future meeting to work out the merits and operation of an event played as Stroke Play.

Still under AOB, KS proposed that as the Ryder Cup had ceased with Marcies a few years ago now, that the Society hold it's own Ryder Cup competion. Two former Captains could pick 2 teams with Captain 1 having the 1st pick, Captain 2 having the next 2 picks and then Captain 1 having the next 2 picks and so on so no team would be loaded so to speak. Members could be canvassed to ascertain interest and an overnight stay could be incorporated into the event. JOC proposed that the committee also take this item away for discussion at it's next meeting. KS was happy with this.

As there was no further business TC wrapped up the AGM and looked forward to seeing us all in Mt. Juliet in 2022.

Many thanks,

Tom Carroll
Secretary
